On her birthday we list out our top 6 favourite Festival de Cannes looks that Sonam K Ahuja wore at the prestigious film festival since her red carpet debut in 2011.
1. Sonam’s Lehenga Look
Sonam Kapoor looked resplendent as a newlywed bride on the Cannes 2018 red carpet as thousands of cameras clicked in approval of her choice of outfit. Interestingly, for this particular look British fashion designers, Ralph & Russo created their first ever lehenga for Sonam. With light henna, diamond drop earrings and her hair braided, Sonam looked like a dream as she posed as Mrs. Sonam K Ahuja for the first ever time at the Cannes red carpet.
2. The Black Ball Gown
Sonam stunned the crowd in the beautiful black ball gown, custom made by Elie Saab. The faux bob added a little vintage touch to the entire look and of course, the Chopard earrings and minimal make-up topped charts at Festival de Cannes 2014.
3. Sonam’s Debut Look
Sonam’s first ever Cannes appearance back in 2011, may have disappointed many since she didn’t choose an Indian designer. But, it definitely made heads turn and take notice of an emerging fashionista. Opting for a Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown, Amrapali ring and a big smile, she completed her look with Chopard earrings and Ferragamo shoes. We absolutely loved the sheer delicacy of the fabric and the way it just fell perfectly on Sonam’s petite frame.
4. The Futuristic Saree
Who better than Sonam to do justice to this dramatic Rimzim Dadu saree she wore at Cannes 2016. The metallic blue pallu almost looks like the sky and sea came together to fabricate an unreal creation. Interestingly, the same pallu was created by using hair-thin molten metal yarn exemplifying fashion as art. While the dramatic saree did the talking, Sonam paired it with statement jewels from Suhani Pittie and finished her look with a neatly tied-up bun, blue liner and a pink pout.
5. The Elaborate Nude Gown
Dressed in a stunning tulle gown by Vera Wang, Sonam channelizes her inner princess and looks nothing less than a fairytale. The elaborate trail with cream and yellow detailing was fitted with a strapless bodice. Setting major beauty goals, Sonam chose the unconventional gen-z yellow and sparkle eye-shadow, oodles of mascara, on-fleek highlighter and glossy lips. The look was complete with Chopard earrings and that million dollar smile!
6. Little Miss Doll
At the Jeune Julie screening, Sonam Kapoor looked like that perfect cute-little-girl-next-door in this beautiful floral strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress at Cannes 2013. The strapless bodice dress with oversized flower motifs in the voluminous skirt was paired with simple side-swept hair, a Sunita Kapoor (her mother’s) neckpiece and pumps swathed with the same rose print.
