The Best Dressed Men at the Met Gala 2017

By Matt Sebra.

The Met Gala, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual fundraiser for its Costume Institute, might play host to the world's most famous people wearing the most high of high end clothes but even if you're an A-lister, getting dressed for one of the world's biggest red carpets isn't easy. Because just like your cousin's upcoming "beach formal" wedding theme, getting the dress code right each year takes a particular set of sartorial skills. If you're too basic, you're boring. If you go too over the top, you wind up in robot arm territory. And this year, with an "avant garde" dress code thrown into the mix—inspired by the designer Rei Kawakubo who's work is featured in this year's exhibit—getting an outfit just right wasn't going to be easy. These men proved otherwise, by sticking to black tie fundamentals executed with Ginsu precision or by embracing the night's theme whole hog and adding their own brand of DGAF-ness.
