Behind the Scenes with Karlie Kloss and Nike

“In gyms across the world there is a clear and visible shift that is happening,” said Mark Parker, CEO of Nike, at a press conference yesterday to showcase the brand’s Spring/Summer 2015 gear. “For the first time women outnumber men in gym memberships.” Parker went on to elaborate that this is not just a trend, women are literally taking over the world — health and fitness apps are growing and Nike’s own digital efforts now reach 65 million women worldwide. (Expect to see more female CEOs in the near future then.)

In order to appease their ever-growing clientele, Nike spent two years fine tuning its sports bras (deemed “the heart of a workout”) and the workout pants (called “tights”) are more innovative than ever. They also have a new assortment of super sleek Flyknit sneakers for girls on the go. Parker pulled out all the stops by having some of the brand’s top female athletes model the new workout attire, which included a capsule collection by much-adored Brazilian designer Pedro Lourenço.

Yahoo Style was fortunate enough speak with the designer prior to the launch. Lourenço’s intention to dress “athletic, strong, bold” women (like Karlie Kloss, who is the face of the collection) dovetails perfectly with everything that Parker had to say. Check it out.
