Powdered Models Walk the Runway at Rick Owens

As we all know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there was nothing more beautiful to designer Rick Owens this season than Nijinsky’s L’Après-Midi d’un Faune, In fact, this was the second time that he revisited the theme, having first focused on it for his Spring 2015 men’s collection. The plot of this famous ballet involves frolicking woodlawn nymphs, which Owens’s girls certainly seemed to embody. The hair was frayed and unruly, the makeup minimal, and a handful of models were covered in all white body powder. Were these the purists of the group? Perhaps. Despite the beauty coming across as somewhat hard, the clothing was very light, layered, and ethereal. Underneath the complexity of the reference, there were some very pretty dresses to admire.
