Who's Playing Who in the Live-Action 'Aladdin' Movie
Not long after reports circulated that Disney was having trouble casting the main role in its live-action remake of Aladdin, the company finally revealed that Mena Massoud would be playing the title role of the beloved classic. Marwan Kenzari as Jafar
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Kenzari, who is expected to make a breakout in Murder on the Orient Express later this year, is in negotiations to play Jafar on August 4th.
Nasim Pedrad as Mara
The former Saturday Night Live star is joining the cast in a new role: Mara, a "handmaiden and friend to Jasmine" according to The Hollywood Reporter, who announced the news on August 4th. The outlet described the part as "a comedic supporting role."
Mena Massoud as Aladdin
The Canadian-Egyptian actor confirmed the news on Twitter after Disney announced it at D23 Expo.

Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine
Disney also announced that Scott, an English singer/actress of Indian descent, would be playing Jasmine. Scott starred as the Pink Ranger in the 2017 live-action adaptation of Power Rangers.

Will Smith as the Genie
Smith had been rumored to be in talks to play the Genie since May. Disney confirmed he had been cast at D23 Expo on July 15.
