Amy Schumer Becomes Her Boyfriend in ‘Closer to You’

Borrowing clothing from one’s boyfriend is a completely normal thing to do, right? Well, leave it to Amy Schumer to make an inane act seem crazy. On Thursday night’s episode of Inside Amy Schumer, the comedian debuted her latest parody music video, which is a pop anthem disguised as a commentary on how romantic couples adopt each other’s traits.

In “Closer to You,” Schumer puts forward the theory that a woman wearing a man’s shirt is just the first step toward the slippery road known as stalker status. “I use your old toothbrush. The fact that it was in your mouth gives me a huge rush. I put on your ball cap and I sit on the couch and I watch the game and shove handfuls of creatine down my throat so we weigh the same.”

But it only gets creepier from there: She finds her man’s hairs in the sink and glues them to her jawline for a fake beard, puts a pickle in her underpants, pees standing up, cuts her long blond hair off into an uneven pixie, devours leftovers from the garbage, plays Xbox with 14-year-old boys, and even lights her farts on fire.

A meaningful, sane way to connect with a significant other? If the happy ending is any indication, then absolutely.
