Adele has one message for critics who pressure mothers to breastfeed: Go f*ck yourself.

Most recently, that pressure has come from celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, who told Britain's LBC Radio that the country has a "problem" with not enough women breastfeeding despite it being "easy" and "more convenient."

But Adele, an actual mom, has taken issue with that perspective.

“It’s f*cking ridiculous, and all those people who put pressure on us, you can go f*ck yourselves, alright?" the singer said during a concert at London's O2 Arena this week. "Because it's hard. Some of us can't do it. I managed about nine weeks with my boobs."

She also encouraged new mothers to feed their children in whatever way they can — and not to feel guilty if breastfeeding isn't a viable option. (The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding exclusively for six months, as does Britain's NHS. But, as many moms have pointed out, this isn't always physically feasible.)

"I mean, I loved [using baby formula]," Adele said. "All I wanted to do was breastfeed and then I couldn’t and then I felt like, ‘if I was in the jungle now back in the day, my kid would be dead because my milk’s gone.'"

Other women, many of whom also had difficulty breastfeeding, have also spoken up on Twitter — because if you want to learn about the maternal experience, it's probably best to ask a mom.
