I Actually Did Audition: Janhvi Kapoor on ‘Dhadak’ & More

The millennials of the moment - Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter grace the cover of Harper’s Bazaar India’s latest edition. The Dhadak duo opened up about how they bagged the coveted roles of the leads in the Karan Johar film, Instagram food videos and more. While Ishaan Khatter said that his social media account was like his audition, Janhvi Kapoor revealed that she also had to go through an audition, contrary to general perception.

"“I actually did audition. Karan (Johar) came home and made me do a few readings of different scenes and eventually that evolved into getting a part in this film.”" - Janhvi Kapoor

Boasting of 1.9 million followers on her account, she also spoke about why she deleted all her posts before making her Instagram account public.

Janhvi seems to be an old soul. “I feel like I should have been born in the 1920s. Just like Owen Wilson’s character in ‘Midnight in Paris’,” she says. She’s also quick to defend her demographic,“People say our generation has a short attention span, but if there’s something I’m passionate about, I’m completely focused on it.”
