A Surefire Way To Make the Mood Magical At Your Wedding

When it comes to designing your wedding, it’s just as important to discuss how your event designer or florist will light the ceremony and reception as it is to talk about what flowers will adorn each dinner table. Celebrity planner Colin Cowie tells Yahoo Style that lighting can totally transform the space. “This year, brides are paying extra attention to this décor element, and the results are illuminating,” he says.

So what are your options?  For romance, candlelight is definitely the way to go. You can use tall tapers, low votives, or floating candles of varying heights to set the mood. To enhance the look and feel you want, also look at colored lights that can wash the dance floors or walls in various hues as the evening goes on. And to make sure that no one forgets whose wedding they’re at, display your new monogram on the dance floor.

Lighting doesn’t have to be limited to a few flames and lightbulbs. Colin has illuminated various settings for his clients — from beaches to ballrooms — with everything from modern art to light shows. “Show-stopping lighting installations, from interactive wedding aisles and dance floors to amazing projection art, will take guests on a magical and transformational journey,” he says.
