7 Completely Appropriate Responses to 'Why Are You Still Single?'

Let’s face it. Whether it’s your work frenemy after you show up solo to the office party, or Uncle Bob after one too many after dinner, someone is going to ask why you’re single over the holidays. ‘Cause people are awesome like that. And also pretty predictable. Now, we’re not suggesting that you NEED to be locked and loaded with an answer to this completely legitimate question that is, naturally, everybody’s business—but in case you’d like a few replies to this standard ol’ inquiry, we’ve provided answers that you can stash in your comeback vault just in case you need ‘em.
So below is what you’ll say the next time someone asks, “Why are you still single?”
Answer 1: ”Just lucky, I suppose.”
Answer 2: ”I’ve been sorta busy cultivating a rewarding and fulfilling career.”
Answer 3: ”Single? Actually I think of it as ’Keeping my options open.’”
Answer 4: ”It was either this or a toxic relationship with my ex. I’d say this is a definite step in the right direction.”
Answer 5: ”Good guy, bad timing; bad guy, good timing… Whatcha gonna do?”
Answer 6: ”You gonna set me up with Bradley Cooper?! If not, then I’m in a good place.”
Answer 7: "I’m in a long-term relationship with independence, and we’re verrrry happy together.”
