These 5 Plus-Size Models Want to Change the World

Plus-size models are going to change the world — and they know it. Bust magazine this month features five women that with their bodies and minds want to fix how women perceive themselves and how everyone else talks about their bodies.

Ashley Graham, Danielle Redman, Inga Eiriksdottir, Julie Henderson, and Marquita Pring appear in the magazine’s Feb/Mar 2015 issue in a story titled “Let’s Get Physical” showing off the latest sportswear looks. The five models are the founders of ALDA, which is, according to their mission statement, a collaborative of models that represents beauty without divisions, boundaries and — most importantly — beauty that doesn’t conform to any body shape or size.

The models say they’re “staying ahead of the curve by embracing their curves.” They’re creating a fashion industry that has historically been exclusive by breaking down barriers and not only creating opportunities for themselves, but others as well. “What ALDA wants to do is change the perception of what beauty is, whether that’s a different age, a different race, or a different size,” Graham said. “Changing what’s going on in fashion is going to end up changing the world.”
