There’s no doubt that in recent years the Los Angeles area has become one of the biggest food destinations in America. The great food is plentiful in this sprawling, sunny region (emphasis on the sprawling — if you don’t have a car there, good luck!) and new must-eat restaurants seem to be popping up daily. A unique balance exists in this part of the West Coast, with competing focusses on health and indulgence. While on the one hand, juice bars and poke reign supreme, on the other super-indulgent and Instagrammable creations take the cake (or donut, if you will).
I made a week-long trek throughout Southern California to seek out the best of the best that the area had to offer — from French food in Hollywood to ice cream in the O.C. — and came back with 20 excellent spots any epicurean should hit while in the golden state.
