Whether it's following #grabyourwallet to keep on top of companies supporting the Trump family or thinking a little harder about buying brands that don't mean something specific to you, women are being hyper-attentive to how and where we spend our money. For women of color, that often means seeking out black-owned beauty brands. During the last year alone, we've seen several pop up, each bringing something specific to the table, from haircare to makeup. We've also seen the industry itself get the recognition it deserves, from vlogger Jackie Aina urging YouTubers of all colors participate in her B.O.M.B challenge—which stands for Black-Owned Makeup Brands—to Huesbox, a beauty subscription service curated to women of color.
