11 Jaw-Dropping Dresses from Self-Portrait's Fashion Week Debut

Begun just two years ago by Central Saint Martins graduate Han Chong, Self-Portrait is a label primarily known for two things: Making exquisitely feminine, yet cutting-edge dresses, and for being a massive favorite among celebs from Beyoncé to Jessica Biel, Katy Perry to Kendall Jenner. Oh, and maintaining a healthy fanbase among fashion editors, too — not least of all for its refreshingly non-batshit prices. While many luxury labels have crept up into the kind of prices that come with commas, Self-Portrait's frocks start in the $300 range.

Today, the cult-favorite brand had a major milestone — its first presentation at New York Fashion Week, where models posed in gorgeous guipere lace gowns, chiffon floral-embroidered minidresses, and sheer cocoon-sleeve jumpsuits atop a mountain of antique furniture painted glacier-white. The set was beautiful, but with an undertow of something darker — just like the label's designs.
