School's Hilarious Adele-Inspired Snow Day Announcement
In what’s being called the “funniest snow day announcement ever,” a school superintendent channeled Adele to inform parents that kids had the day off.
“Hello, it’s me,” Mike Gauch, the superintendent of Harrisburg Community Schools in Illinois, sang in the recorded message left on parents’ machines Monday. “The man you want to hear from on snowy days but never see.” Then he broke character, moving from Adele’s hit “Hello” to state, “Due to conditions, there will be no school at Harrisburg Unit 3. Have a wonderful evening.”

A school parent shared a video recording of the hilarious announcement on Facebook, where it made the Internet rounds.
But Gauch isn’t the only school administrator to get musically inspired by snowfall. In 2014, a principal and drama teacher at Stephens Elementary School in Kentucky teamed up for a rendition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” that quickly went viral. “We’ve had several cancellations and delays this year, and I just got tired of hearing my voice over and over again delivering that same message,” James Detwiler told Cincinnati.com. “Parents and students deserve a chuckle.” And that same year, administers at Durham Academy in North Carolina took school cancellations a step further with a rap music video set to Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby.”
