'My Grandparents Are Both 90 and Still Pretty Cool'

A photo of a 90-year-old couple riding an electric scooter took Reddit by storm this week, getting more than 700 comments and 2.2 million views.
The photo, titled “My grandparents are both 90 and still pretty cool,” was posted by 23-year-old Holly Hutchinson, and shows her grandparents riding side by side through an Australian mall.

Hutchinson took the photo on Tuesday. “My grandparents only just got this buggy thing. My granddad lost his license a little while ago because he has bad osteoporosis, and my grandmother has memory loss and can’t drive,” she tells Yahoo Parenting. “But they both love going out and doing stuff, so my mom and aunt delivered this as a surprise. My granddad calls it his little red sports car.”
After capturing the from-behind image, Hutchinson was inspired to post it to Reddit because she thought it was so sweet. “It’s such a nice photo in that it shows that their relationship is still going strong after 65 years,” she says. “It’s pretty rare for a couple to both be 90, both still be here, and be able to go to the shops together.”

Hutchinson, who has been with her boyfriend for six years, says her grandparents are her relationship role models. “They honestly do everything for each other,” she says. “My grandma has Alzheimer’s and it’s tough for my granddad, but she is still her witty self most of the time, and they are a great pair.”
Their granddaughter isn’t the only who looks up to the happy couple. Users on Reddit couldn’t get enough of the photo, many even commented using the hashtag #relationshipgoals. “I want to be like them when I get older,” wrote Redditor Firsthit. “That’s the most romantic picture ever,” said mme_leiderhosen. “That’s gonna be me & mine in 40 yrs,” added ifUonlyKnew85.
One user even admitted that he had spotted the couple in the mall that day. “My brother and I walked past them today, [I was] saying how that’s my relationship goal,” wrote Hippyman96.
Redditors were so enamored with the photo that they even created a “Photoshop Battle,” editing the couple into scenes including a Mario Kart race, a roller coaster and a post-wedding drive.

Hutchinson says she told her grandparents about the picture’s popularity, and they got a good laugh. “They thought it was amazing,” she says. “I can tell granddad feels like a celebrity.”
