How to Watch Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee Events

Queen Elizabeth's widely anticipated Platinum Jubilee celebrations unofficially kick off this weekend. While the Platinum Jubilee weekend officially begins Thursday, June 2, with a special Trooping the Colour featuring a number of royals on the balcony at Buckingham palace, the Royal Windsor Horse Show marks the start of the festivities—and will be the first televised Platinum Jubilee event that those of us in the U.S. can enjoy.

"We are honored to be hosting The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration at Royal Windsor Show. With exceptional acts from around the World and world class actors and singers joining to celebrate, this is sure to be an occasion to be remembered," director Simon Brooks-Ward said.

While a performance will occur each evening of the Royal Windsor Horse Show, with members of the royal family expected to attend each night, the biggest performance will occur on Sunday night. Here, how to watch.

How to watch the Royal Windsor Horse Show:

The performance will "take viewers on a gallop through history, from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I through to the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II." The event will include 1,300 performers and 500 horses, and will be hosted by Tom Cruise, Damian Lewis, Adjoa Andoh and Alan Titchmarsh. Helen Mirren will play Queen Elizabeth I, and Omid Djalili will play a character called "The Herald." The broadcast which will feature guests including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Joan Collins, Mo Farah, and numerous other celebrities.

During the performance, the Queen's youngest granddaughter, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, will drive a carriage owned by her late grandfather, Prince Philip. Plus, ten of the Queen's great-grandchildrenincluding Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis—are slated to make a special appearance.

BritBox, the subscription streaming service from BBC Studios and ITV, will exclusively stream the event in the United States, on Sunday May 15, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern.
