Starbucks Now Has Its Own Energy Drink (That Isn't Coffee)

Starbucks is an important part of many people's morning routine, but though the egg bites may be nice, it's usually the caffeine folks are after. And yet, despite giving loads of Americans the boost they need to get their day going, the chain has never released an officially-designated "energy drink"… until now.

Starbucks Baya Energy is billed as the brand's first time entering the popular energy drink market. The new beverage — sold in slim cans typical of the category — is said to be "crafted from caffeine naturally found in coffee fruit as well as antioxidant vitamin C" and will arrive in three flavors: Mango Guava, Raspberry Lime, and Pineapple Passionfruit. Each 12-ounce, 90-calorie can contains 160 milligrams of caffeine, about the same amount as a cup of coffee.

"We're thrilled to introduce Starbucks Baya Energy to our customers, providing them with a refreshing, fruit-flavored boost of feel-good energy, in a way only Starbucks can deliver," Chanda Beppu, the company's vice president of channel development, Americas, stated. "Over the years, we've continued to identify new and exciting ways to expand our ready-to-drink portfolio and saw an opportunity to complement our existing coffee beverage lineup."

Starbucks says you should be able to find Starbucks Baya Energy in places like grocery stores, convenience stores, and gas stations nationwide right now with a suggested price of $2.89. Oddly enough, however, they say don't expect to see the cans in actual Starbucks locations until March 1.

Alongside Baya, Starbucks says you will see plenty of other Starbucks ready-to-drink beverages hitting retail shelves this year with the most interesting additions involving oat milk.

After the success of oat milk as a dairy alternative in Starbucks locations, it's now getting its first RTD rollout as a part of Starbucks Multi-serve Cold Brew Dark Chocolate Oatmilk and two Bottled Starbucks Frappuccinos with Oatmilk: Caramel Waffle Cookie and Dark Chocolate Brownie.

Finally, other new drinks on their way to stores include Starbucks Cold & Crafted on Tap, Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew Splash of Sweet Cream, Starbucks Tripleshot Zero Sugar Milk Chocolate, and Starbucks Frappuccino Passport Series Hazelnut Tiramisu.
