People Who Were Adopted By People From A Different Race Or Ethnicity, Tell Us What You Want Others To Know

A while ago, we asked Black members of the BuzzFeed Community to share their experiences and advice about being adopted by white families.

Many people opened up and shared their stories and now I want to hear stories from all transracial adoptees (people raised by adoptive parents of a different race or ethnic group).

For example, maybe you want people to know that just because your parents are a different race than you, it doesn't mean you are confused about your racial identity or aren't proud of it.

Or perhaps you've faced many microaggressions from your family because they just aren't educated enough about issues and topics related to your racial identity and culture.

Maybe your parents actually did a lot to keep you in touch with the culture of your racial and ethnic background so that you felt comfortable in those communities as well as at home.

Or maybe your parents treated you and their biological children differently which always made you feel out of place in the family.
