Open Pit makes music festivals in the video game ‘Minecraft’

Unlike Fyre Festival, these “Minecraft” music festivals are no joke

- Open Pit actually started sort of as a joke almost. The kind of founder, if you would, of Open Pit, Max Schramp, wanted to throw his 21st birthday party in Minecraft. Just way more people than any of us kind of were anticipating showed up. And so we were like, why don't we just kind of keep doing this? The builds between everyone take hundreds of hours.

All of our server software is custom written.

It's pretty intense. And we're, you know, working basically full time on this, fully volunteer.

Our events are completely free to attend. And all you require is an internet access.
