Nicole Richie Set Her Hair on Fire While Blowing Out Her Birthday Candles

Nicole Richie ushered in her 40th birthday with an accidental allusion to her Simple Life years.

While bent down close to her birthday cake, which bore an adorable image of the reality star as a child, Richie blew out her candles — but one of them said not so fast.

One disgruntled sparkler set fire to the ends of Richie's curly blonde hair. The mother of two began screaming as the flames quickly spread, attempting to put out the fire with the edge of her off-the-shoulder top.

Luckily, the moment was captured on film, and, to our knowledge, no one (with the exception of Richie's ends) was harmed in the birthday blaze. "Well ... so far 40 is 🔥," Richie captioned the video.
