Nicole Miller infused the idea of wanderlust into pre-fall through a collection directly inspired by her trip to Thailand last February.

Dreaming about her days spent at the Anantara Resort and Elephant Sanctuary, Miller filled the collection with elephants. They came embroidered on jackets and clutches, in intarsia knits, in the form of jewelry, and printed onto easy dresses, skirts and little tops with baby smocking and a few ruffle details. More subtly referencing her travels, the designer partnered with Brooklyn, N.Y.-based artisan Cara Marie Piazza, to design a sustainable vegetable dyed washed yellow and blue gradient look book backdrop and singular cashmere sweater, mirroring the early morning sunset Miller saw through her hotel window. “I’m going to cut it up and either make tote bags or jackets,” she quipped, referencing the backdrop.

To add her signature edge to the looks, Miller’s elephant emblazoned garments were styled with distressed navy and khaki denim, an updated assortment of her casual collection, urban takes on utilitarian safari jackets and jumpsuits, and playful cheetah printed offerings.
