The International Woolmark Prize 2022 winner has teamed up with the automotive pioneer and E-Sports company, SK Gaming, for a limited capsule collection driven by performance, passion and technology.
Comprising a reversible black sports jacket and long-sleeved T-shirt, the collection combines the functional with the fashionable and seeks to offer automotive enthusiasts, gamers and athletes the ultimate sportswear fits. Made from recycled polyester, the jacket features a lilac-blue mesh pattern on its lining, complete with Mercedes-Benz and SK Gaming embroidered logos in contrasting colors.
Next up is the long-sleeved black compression T-shirt, also developed from recycled polyester and fused with Lycra for a figure-hugging fit. The T-shirt boasts colored mesh inserts on each side and features thumb loops, extended back and a high-closing collar, complete with a half-zip for true functionality.
Of the collection, Mercedes-Benz AG Head of Brand Collaborations, Julia Hofmann, shared that "Every collaboration gains from new impulses, and we are all the more pleased that together with Saul Nash, we have succeeded in creating a new connection between the worlds of fashion and Esports. With this exclusive collection, we want to appeal not only to Esports enthusiasts but also to our customers and fans who value an active lifestyle that is functional in everyday life while exuding a modern look."
Echoing that same sentiment is Nash, who adds that "It is an honour to be partnering with Mercedes-Benz and SK Gaming, to celebrate the Esports team's 25th anniversary. This project was an exciting space to explore three worlds that at first instance may not fit together. But the beauty of gaming is that anything is possible as there are infinite possibilities. It was inspiring to create garments through the lens of Esports, marrying this with the sleek design and exquisite heritage of Mercedes-Benz, whilst envisioning this in the world of movement that I'm grounded in. With performance wear grounded so much in movement, the question was how we could bring gaming which is often a static sport to life through movement."
