Police shot at and injured a 48-year-old man during an armed standoff at his Lake Havasu City home Monday night during which officers said the man went outside and fired gunshots at them.

Bullhead City police are investigating the six-hour standoff with Lake Havasu City SWAT members that left the man, identified as 48-year-old Jason Boon, with minor injures, according to the Bullhead City Police Department's Facebook page.

Police were called to a home in the area of Maricopa Avenue and Oro Grande Boulevard after neighbors reported Boon fired a gun several times inside his home while making suicidal threats.

As officers approached the home around 8:00 p.m., Boon came out and fired gunshots in their direction. No officers were harmed. Police returned fire, grazing Boon's arm and causing him to go back into the house and begin barricading the entrance.

Boon remained inside the residence for six hours as SWAT team members and crisis negotiators tried to resolve the situation. Police used tear gas several times, eventually leading to an unarmed Boon leaving the residence just before 2 a.m. Tuesday.

He was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was later booked into the Lake Havasu City police detention facility on suspicion of failure to comply with a court order in addition to any charges pending the standoff investigation.

Boon is awaiting transport to a Mohave County jail in Kingman.

The two officers who returned fire against Boon are on customary administrative leave during the investigation.
