A woman has died after being hit by a car while taking photographs of the castle where I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is being filmed.

Sharn Hughes died aged 58 on Saturday evening (21 November), her family has confirmed. The crash occurred on Abergele Road, Llandullas, near Gwrych Castle.

“Her curiosity led to her wanting to see the lights at Gwrych Castle, which, unfortunately, led to her untimely tragic death,” said her family in a statement.

Addressing others who may also want to venture to the series’ location to do the same, Hughes’s family urged that people “take so much care and remember it is a busy main A-class road”.

BBC reports that Hughes was described as a “devoted wife” and “loving mother” to her two children.

The statement continued: “Sharn was so selfless and had such a joyous, charitable attitude to life.

“She was in the process of organising deliveries of hampers to the local food bank through the Women’s Institute. We’ll miss her kindness forever.”

North Wales Police are asking witnesses to the crash – which involved a blue Volvo estate car on the A547 at a location known as Middle Gate – come forward.

Sergeant Raymond Williams said: "Our thoughts remain with Sharn's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

"She was clearly a much-loved woman and her family are now being supported by a family liaison officer."
