You probably know Lisa Whelchel best as Blair from The Facts of Life, but she insists she’s nothing like her character.

“I’m definitely more of a Jo,” Whelchel tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

For the unfamiliar, The Facts of Life aired from 1979 to 1988, and revolved around a group of girls attending a boarding school.

Her character famously shared a kiss with George Clooney’s character. And while most of us would revel in that moment forever, she’s always been more interested in sports and bikes than boys and makeup.

“I was a tomboy growing up,” she shares. “[I] played softball, rode motorcycles since I was five, just a tomboy from the beginning.”

Now 56, the star maintains her laidback attitude when it comes to everything beauty-related.

“I wish I could say that I have some kind of skincare or beauty routine,” she says. “The truth is, I have great genes. My mom looks young, my grandmother looked young, so I just inherited the young genes.”

When it comes to makeup, her approach is no different.

“The lipstick I’m wearing right now, some of the makeup artists the past couple of days have said, ‘Oh, I love that, what is it?’ It’s Burt’s Bees colored chapstick,” says Whelchel. “I love it because it’s easy, because I’m all about simple. It has enough color, and it keeps my lips moist and so, why not?”

Whelchel isn’t the only one that’s a fan of the balm. Over 1,400 Amazon reviewers love the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm for the light wash of color and how moisturizing it feels on the lips. Some even called it an affordable dupe for Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey!

Besides, “why not?” is the best attitude we can think of in terms of beauty and aging. “I’ve struggled with weight all my life, but it’s come in handy in the later years,” says Whelchel. “Because if you carry a few extra pounds, you don’t have as many wrinkles. They just kind of fluff out a little bit.”

Name a better aging tip. We’ll wait.
