Igloo Is Expanding Its Retro Collection With Picnic Baskets And Barrel-Shaped Jugs

Update, April 16, 2021: Igloo’s Retro Collection is getting even bigger, folks! The brand dropped a new line of coolers inspired by its Little Playmate ones from the ‘70s in March, and now it’s bringing back ‘80s and ‘90s styles with picnic baskets, water jugs, fanny packs, and more.
The collection now has more than 20 retro-style products that you’ll want to have for picnics in the park, beach days, and whatever else you like to do when it’s warm out. It includes both hard and soft coolers, Barrel of Fun drink jugs, picnic baskets, lunch bags, backpacks, duffel bags, and fanny packs. The expanded collection has nine styles in total with five vibrant color combos to choose from, like electric watermelon and aquamarine. You can browse the entire retro collection on the brand’s website, where the prices range from $18 for a half-gallon jug to $50 for a 25-quart picnic basket cooler.

For the manufacturer’s 50th anniversary, it’s selling a new line of coolers inspired by the groovy ones it originally released in the ‘70s. The portable coolers are perfect for any outing—whether it involves going to the beach or simply hanging out in your backyard.
The special edition Little Playmate collection includes 7-quart coolers that each hold nine 12-ounce cans. Along with their famous tent top, the coolers have a push-to-open button on the side and swivel lid—all trademark features of the OG coolers. You can get the coolers in nine color combos “that pay homage to the different, vibrant Playmate editions [the brand has] released over the last 50 years,” according to the product description. Among the far-out options are combos like blue and acid green; watermelon and aqua; and yellow and mint. Each cooler weighs about 2 pounds on its own. The dimensions are roughly 11 inches by 8 inches by 11 inches. You can buy the coolers on Igloo’s website for $30 each.
