Update, April 16, 2020, 10:16 a.m.: In case you forgot that Guy Fieri is perhaps the most creative Food Network star out there, the network gave us an update on what Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives will look like now that Guy is at home socially isolating like the rest of us, and it sounds glorious.

Guy will be starring in Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives: Takeout, which will have three installments, according to Deadline. Restaurant owners from across the U.S. will send Guy the recipes for their famous dishes and teach Guy how to make them over webcam. Guy explained:

Triple D has always been about hitting the road and celebrating the hard working folks of the restaurant business. And while the restaurants are partially closed and the Camaro is parked, DDD: Takeout is here to show you how your favorite chefs are still cookin' it up to keep people fed, support their communities, their families, and their employees.

As we mentioned below, this is all happening with some TV magic thanks to Guy's son Hunter, a bunch of GoPros, and some help from producers over FaceTime. No word on when the new episodes will premiere, but it's safe to say we'll be watching!

Original, April 9, 2020, 2:16 p.m. Social distancing measures have meant that many television shows, movies, albums, and other forms of entertainment have been put on hold for now. Luckily some stars like our beloved Guy Fieri are finding ways to make the show go on in a safe way.

In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Guy said that filming for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which was supposed to take place in Hawaii and Texas, was cancelled. Guy and his team had to get creative but the show will be returning as a "quarantine version" with some help from his son Hunter and five GoPros.

Instead of visiting restaurants, the owners will send Guy their recipes and producers will monitor the GoPro footage through FaceTime. If it sounds like a lot of work, it is! But Guy is psyched to make it happen.

“You want to talk about a gigantic hot mess?” he asked: “That’s exactly what it’s going to be, but it’s going to be awesome, creative. Just meeting the other day with the 12 of them was hysterical. I thought, how are we going to get something that really resembles television?”

While we're psyched to see the fruits of Guy and Hunters' collective labor, the interview had all sort of other interesting tidbits, as Eater pointed out, like the fact that Guy possibly has 400 (??) goats at his home and that he doesn't dye his own hair (he says he's going to look like "Joe Dirt" by the time he's able to get it done again!).

Guy has also been making French onion soup chicken, Philly cheesesteaks, and pizza while at home with his family, just in case you need some inspiration. Oh, and one last thing, he also wants you to consider donating to the National Restaurant Association relief fund to benefit restaurant employees. You can do so here.
