Graham Medical Group's new Galesburg clinic opens Sept. 5. Here's what you can expect

GALESBURG — Graham Health System has announced the clinical team that will be heading up the Graham Medical Group Galesburg-Knoxville Clinic, which is scheduled to open Sept. 5 at 1174 N. Seminary St.

Graham announced in April it was acquiring the site of the former Hayden Chiropractic Clinic with plans to transform it into an urgent care clinic. The Galesburg-Knoxville Clinic will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

Michael Scherer, DPM, joins the Graham Health System team and will see podiatry patients. Joining Scherer at the Galesburg-Knoxville Clinic will be Kristen Lee, PA. Lee’s focus is on helping patients with diabetic management. She will also see patients at the Canton GMG clinic.

Bethany Glaser, PA, will head up women’s health at the Galesburg-Knoxville Clinic. Rounding out the Galesburg team will be Shana Simmons, APRN, and Christina McDorman, APRN. Both Simmons and McDorman are advanced practice providers from the Galesburg area who will provide care through Graham’s Convenient Care.

Lee, Glaser, Simmons and McDorman will be under the medical directorship of Dr. Mark DeYoung, who specializes in family practice at Graham’s Elmwood and Williamsfield locations.

“We are thrilled to have local, dedicated and experienced staff joining our Galesburg-Knoxville Graham Medical Group,” said Robert G. Senneff, president and CEO of Graham Health System.

Graham Health System currently consists of five free-standing clinic locations serving the Lewistown, Canton, Farmington, Elmwood and Williamsfield communities and in partnership with Mason District Hospital in Havana, where five specialty clinics are held weekly. With the addition of the Galesburg-Knoxville and Macomb-Bushnell locations, Graham will have seven stand-alone GMG clinics to serve central and western Illinois communities. Graham Medical Group specializes in family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, ear nose and throat, podiatry, urology, wound care, vascular, pain and breast surgery.

The centerpiece of the health system is Graham Hospital, located in Canton. Graham Hospital is a full-service hospital with a comprehensive array of services, including general, orthopedic, gynecological and, beginning in August, urologic robotic surgeries. Graham Hospital is also the home to Fulton & Mason County Wound Clinic and Hyperbaric Medicine and Graham Home Medical Equipment and offers a full range of ancillary services including cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation, physical, occupational and speech therapy services, laboratory and imaging.

Graham is currently accepting appointments for the Galesburg-Knoxville GMG with plans of opening on Sept. 5. All Graham Medical Group physicians and advanced practice providers are accepting new patients with same day appointments available in many cases. Graham Hospital and providers accept all Illinois Medicaid, Medicare and virtually all other insurance plans.

Graham looks to expand parking lot

Graham Hospital Association also is looking to purchase the lot at 1156 N. Seminary St. and demolish the structures, which will provide it the ability to expand its parking lot. In order to do that, Graham is seeking a zoning amendment to go from single family (R1B) to neighborhood business at 1156 N. Seminary St.

The Development Review Committee reviewed the zoning amendment during its July 6 meeting and recommended approval. The issue was scheduled to go before the Planning & Zoning Commission on July 19. It is anticipated the Planning & Zoning Commission recommendation will go to the City Council on Aug. 1 (first reading) and Aug. 15 (final reading).
