If you're looking for complete peace and quiet against a stunning countryside backdrop, then you're in luck, as the entire Welsh village of Aberllefenni has just gone on the market for £1.15 million.

The quaint, historic village includes 16 cottages (which can all be rented out), plus acres of agricultural land, wooded forest, and a stunning mountain range for walking, climbing, mountain biking and birdwatching.

It's the perfect investment for outdoor enthusiasts, thanks to idyllic walking routes, canoeing opportunities and peaceful foothills of the Cader Idris mountains. While some of the desolate buildings might be in need of a little TLC, this gives new owners the chance to spruce them up as they wish.

The charms of the surrounding countryside are a certain draw for the little village. As well as wraparound views, the area is teeming with wildlife, so don't forget your binoculars. There might not be much life at the moment, but the delightful town of Machynlleth — the ancient capital of Wales — is just moments away. Here, new residents will find museums, a good variety of shops, restaurants, pubs, and schools.

While the agents have been struggling to sell the village, the listing explains it is "priced realistically for a quick sale" and offers an "investment opportunity providing income".

Dafydd Hardy, whose estate agency has been trying to sell the village, told ITV News: "The last sale fell through in November 2020, which was frustrating. It's the complex nature of the package that's on offer that causes all the hold-ups, but there's only one way to progress with something of this nature and that's slowly.

"We've recently had lots more people wanting to see it, and that's despite all the Covid related rules which are in place at the moment regarding viewings. Actually these restrictions can be a good thing, as they tend to make people ask for as much information as they can about a property before they commit to looking at it."
