Nespresso is arguably one of the most well-known espresso machines, lauded for its easy-to-use capsules (similar to a Keurig coffee machine). However, the machines regularly range from $159 to $249, while capsules start at $7 for a sleeve of 10. That’s why we were especially excited to learn that you can get a Nespresso machine for only $1 with the Nespresso Machine Plan.
Here’s how it works: the Nespresso Machine Plan gives you a machine of your choice for $1 with the purchase of a 12-month credit subscription. Basically, you get the machine for $1 and pay a monthly fee of $35 to $50 and that money goes toward credits that you can use to purchase capsules, accessories and more. The credits are accumulated dollar for dollar and if you don’t spend them one month, they just roll over until the next and they never expire. After one year, you can switch to purchasing credits or capsules whenever you’d like, rather than monthly.

As a Nespresso owner myself, it’s a great deal, considering I personally spend about $30 a month on capsules, which works out to be about 1-2 shots of espresso a day. (Pro tip: I love an iced latte, so I get Nespresso’s capsules specifically meant for brewing over ice and mix with almond milk.)
The Nespresso Machine Plan is available for six of the brand’s machines. The VertuoPlus and Evoluo make coffee and espresso, while the CitiZ makes only espresso. These three cost $1 with a $35 per month plan, and each comes with a milk frother, which usually costs an additional $100.
The Lattisma One, Creatista Uno and Lattisima Pro all make espresso, lattes and cappuccinos with a built-in milk frother. The first two are $1 with a $45 per month plan, while the latter comes with a $50 per month plan.
Your choice of machine will depend on the drinks you like to make. If you enjoy straight coffee and espresso, but like to make the occasional latte, the VertuoPlus should work just fine.
If you end up not being a fan of the machine you choose, however, you’re not totally stuck. After purchasing the plan, Nespresso gives customers a 14-day “cooling off period” which gives you the option to cancel your Nespresso Machine Plan for any reason. To cancel, you’ll have to contact customer service and return your machine, as well as any unused products you redeemed using credits within seven days of that period.
Jessica Butler, one of In The Know’s supervising video producers who recently subscribed to the plan and purchased the VertuoPlus explained, “I try not to spend a lot of money on my coffee habit, so the thought of purchasing a Nespresso was always a tough pill to swallow with a $200+ price tag.
She continued, “The subscription plan was what made me finally decide to get one. Paying $35 a month which I can use to buy enough pods for myself was the perfect excuse for me to finally buy something I had been thinking about for months!”
Keep in mind, while the machines and capsules can be purchased at stores like Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl’s and more, the Nespresso Machine Plan is exclusively on Nespresso’s website. So, if you spend way too much money at Starbucks or just want to make your own espresso beverages at home, there’s no time like the present to get yourself a Nespresso machine, especially when it’s $1.
