The Rock's conservative fans slam him for deleting Boris Johnson praise: 'You gave in to a bunch of snowflakes'
While his support of protesters in Hawaii has many fans pushing for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to one day run for president, there are others who wish he’d butt out of British politics.
During an interview with Good Morning Britain, the Hobbs & Shaw star joked that Boris Johnson, who became prime minister of the United Kingdom last week, was his “cousin” because they share a last name.
“It's like looking in the mirror, every time I see Boris,” the former wrestler, known for shaving his head, quipped of the shaggy-haired politician.
Wait, did we hear that correctly?
Hollywood superstar Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) makes a surprising revelation about our Prime Minister Boris Johnson… pic.twitter.com/pVlHpy2Vus— Good Morning Britain (@GMB) July 29, 2019
The actor then took his Johnson jokes to Twitter, tweeting, “Breaking: PM Boris Johnson is in fact my cousin (though we clearly look more like twins). Jokes aside, PM did say something in his speech I liked — ‘the people are our bosses.’ 100% agree. The people/audience/consumer will always matter most. #ourboss.”
But within minutes, the tweet had been deleted after Johnson (the actor, not the prime minister) got backlash from fans who pointed out the politician’s controversial reputation, including making homophobic and racist comments, such as saying that Muslim women who wear burkas “look like letter boxes.”
In addition to deleting his seemingly pro-BoJo tweet, the Jumanji star clarified his stance and thanked fans for giving “me the real talk and swift perspective and education on the individual I did not know.”
Well according to the people, maybe we’re not related after all 😂🤦🏽♂️
Big mahalo to my people who I can always rely on to give me the real talk and swift perspective & education on the individual I did not know 😉Tequila on me, Britain 🙌🏾🥃 https://t.co/xbyjVRBhrB— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) July 29, 2019
But his Boris backtracking has now raised ire from his more conservative fans, who are accusing the star of caving to a “bunch of snowflakes.”
I doubt you’ve been ‘educated’ on the PM, rather you’ve been given a negative perspective from the left. Find out for yourself before assuming everything you are told is correct. More people are positive about Boris than negative so try to explore all sides of the debate.

Oh Dwayne, I thought you were tough, but you gave in to a bunch of snowflakes.
Your original thoughts were spot on, don't let their hate make you change anything. Pint of Old Peculiar on me, if you ever pop by 🍺— Andy (@oaedoel) July 29, 2019
Yes, nothing like the outrage mob to give you an “education”. Love you and Boris.

Dude, don’t cave to the Twitter mobs. Especially when they’re decisively political one way or the other. Form your own opinions, that’s why so many respect you. I’m disappointed in you.

Others, however, praised Johnson for distancing himself from the man who has been dubbed “Britain’s Trump.”
You’ve got more integrity in your little finger than your “cuz” will ever wish to have

This is why you are the People’s Champion, Dwayne. Thank you for deleting your last tweet so promptly after learning that your namesake is an absolute fraud.

You're definitely not related. Admitting honest mistakes is definitely a million miles away from what the PM would of done in this scenario.

Big respect for this tweet, you're a stand up guy, nothing like our current PM :)
