We hold this truth to be self-evident: Hamilton is one of the greatest musicals of all time.
The hit production took Broadway by storm when it was first released in 2015 and met with instant critical acclaim. Hamilton: An American Musical went on to win 11 Tony Awards, it received a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and it sold out hundreds of live performances around the world. Talk about being "young, scrappy, and hungry!" But of course, not everyone was able to see it in person. So how can you watch Hamilton, then?
Thankfully, the musical arrived on Disney+ last summer, though that wasn't originally the plan. Disney outbid competing studios for rights to a live capture of the Broadway show, which later became the film Hamilton. The movie was going to be released in theaters (Lin-Manuel Miranda on the big screen? Yes please!) but Disney+ made it available to stream online in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, Hamilton is nominated for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy at the 2021 Golden Globes. Lin-Manuel is also up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.
Alexander Hamilton himself said it best: "This is not a moment. It's the movement." Stream Hamilton from the comfort of your home this weekend and find out what all the hype is about!
How to watch and stream "Hamilton" online.
If you already have a Disney+ account, all you have to do is "rise up" off the couch and press play. Hamilton is available to stream through the platform instantly!
For those who don't have Disney+ yet, it's easy to sign up. You can access Hamilton (and the rest of Disney's library) for $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year.
Unfortunately, the streaming platform no longer offers a free 7-day trial—so you'll have to commit to at least one month of service to watch Hamilton.
Can I watch "Hamilton" on Netflix or Amazon Prime?
Sorry, but no—Hamilton is exclusively available to stream on Disney+ at this time. That means Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and other streaming service subscribers can't watch it anywhere else.
