She took over the show's hosting duties with Tayshia Adams in 2021.

Kaitlyn Bristowe is opening up about the tension with former Bachelor host Chris Harrison that she believes caused their friendship to go "down the toilet."

While appearing on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast for the Tuesday, Jan, 31 episode, Bristowe, 37, dished the dirt on her fall out with Harrison, 51, claiming that it all went downhill after she accepted the hosting role for Season 17 of the popular reality series.

The former Bachelorette was offered a position on the show following Harrison's abrupt departure in the midst of a racism controversy involving then-contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, though Bristowe claims she didn't know what the job entailed when she accepted it.

"[They said] I wouldn't be replacing Chris," she recalled on Tuesday's podcast episode. "Then all these articles started coming out, saying, 'Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe replacing Chris Harrison.' And so I messaged Chris probably about 10 times without him responding...I just wanted him to know that I thought he was irreplaceable and I didn't want to step on toes."

After Harrison never answered, Bristowe remembered "panicking" after she began to "feel icky" about accepting the job, which she thought was supposed to be more of a mentor role rather than a hosting gig.

"I was like, 'OK he hates me. And we were like best friends and now he hates me,'" she thought at the time.

Bristowe then bumped into Harrison at Wells Adams' wedding to Sarah Hyland in 2022, where she said it became obvious that things weren't the same anymore.

"I saw him at Wells and Sarah's wedding and I walked over to him and I was like, ‘I miss you,’ and he was like, ‘Well I’ve always been here,'" she recalled, adding, "So yeah, that was tough."

"I balled my eyes out about it," she admitted. "That friendship just went down the toilet."

While Bristowe definitely seemed upset about the crumbling of their once-close bond, she acknowledged that the situation was most likely not about her entirely.

"I don't think it was actually about me if I can remove my ego...it wasn't about me. I think he was going through so much in his life. He lost 20 pounds. He was depressed," she noted, as Harrison recently opened up on the effects his exit from the franchise had on his health.
