Apartment hunter Ia is looking to find the perfect 1- or 2-bedroom home in Manhattan

On this episode of In The Know: Find My Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) helps Ia find a cozy and comfortable apartment in Manhattan with enough space for her boyfriend and cat! Ia is hoping to find a one to two-bedroom unit that’s close to the subway, has a dishwasher, and has plenty of space for entertaining friends, for up to $3,200 a month. Can Will help Ia find an apartment that’s the cat’s meow? Let’s find out!

Apartment number one, which Will dubs “The Colorful Nest,” is a one-bedroom unit that’s significantly under budget at $2,800 a month! The apartment features hardwood floors, a light-drenched main bedroom with two windows, and modern white painted walls that Ia finds “refreshing.” Ia loves that the bedroom is big enough to fit a large dresser, but worries that the cozy kitchen might be too cozy for two people to cook in at once. “I can picture myself in here,” she tells Will. “But I don’t know if I can fit another person.”

Next up, Will shows Ia a two-bedroom unit that rents for $3,200 a month, which he calls “The Old Brick Walk-Up.” Ia is immediately impressed by the rustic apartment’s exposed brick walls and spacious kitchen. Although the kitchen appliances are older and the kitchen lacks a dishwasher, it’s certainly big enough for two, and has plenty of light. Ia also loves the main bedroom, which she points out is huge and has tons of character.

Finally, Will shows Ia a one-bedroom unit called “The Modern Brownstone,” which rents for $3,000 a month. Unlike the first two apartments, this spacious apartment comes with modern appliances, including a dishwasher! Ia loves the apartment’s layout and details, and is especially impressed by the stylish tiles in the bathroom. Plus, the living space is spacious enough for entertaining! “I can see myself here with my cat, boyfriend, [and] our whole family,” Ia tells Will.

Three weeks later, Ia reveals that an exciting life event has changed her apartment hunting plans. “My boyfriend now has a job in Brooklyn, so we’re going to pivot and move there,” she says. “So thank you so much, Will, for showing us the apartments in Manhattan. I think we’re going to have to call you back for another viewing in Brooklyn!”
