  • The Cadillac Lyriq largely carries over its concept styling into a production-ready vehicle.

  • The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq offers 300 miles of range from a 100-kWh battery feeding the single-motor powertrain.

  • Cadillac will start taking reservations for its new EV this September with deliveries expected in the first half of 2022.

The Cadillac Lyriq debuted in concept form last year and is finally ready for a production line. The good news: Not a lot has changed.

The little that has changed is because real cars have to function in the real world. On the production-ready Lyriq you see here, traditional side-view mirrors have been added. There’s also a camera mounted in the middle of the grille that allows for the Lyriq to use driver-assistance systems like Super Cruise. These deviations are offset by the broad strokes of the Cadillac Lyriq adhering to the concept’s design as it heads to production.

As important as how the Lyriq looks is how it will drive. Powering the Lyriq at launch is just a single motor turning the rear wheels, which might not sound as exciting as the multiple-motor competition. This single electric motor is good for 340 hp and 325 lb-ft, however, and while that won’t set the road on fire, it means the Lyriq shouldn’t be a slouch.

The electric motor is important for performance, but the heart of electric vehicles is the battery pack. The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq sports a 100-kWh battery pack that stores enough energy, per Cadillac, to tackle 300 miles on a single charge, with DC fast charging restoring 76 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Cadillac also offers variable regenerative braking controlled by a steering-wheel-mounted paddle.

Cadillac says it’s launching the Lyriq EV early next year as a 2023 model-year vehicle, with prices starting at $59,990 and reservations opening this September.
