New 'Summer House' stars tease hookups ahead of season 4: 'Best season yet'
Bravo's "Summer House" will feature two new cast members this year, and they waste no time throwing themselves into the drama out East.
Luke Gulbranson and Jules Daoud join season 4 of the hit Hamptons-set reality show, set to premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and both of them had instant connections with two of the returning stars that promise to stir things up: Luke and Hannah Berner have a summer fling, while Jules sets her sights on Carl Radke.
In two separate interviews ahead of the premiere, Luke and Jules teased their rollercoaster love lives to In The Know's Gibson Johns, with Jules admitting that she and Carl were "definitely flirtatious" right away.
"I had my eye on Carl from the moment I met him," she said. "He’s tall, dark and handsome, and he’s from the Midwest, too, so he has a good heart... at times. For the most part."
As for his romantic prospects for the summer, Luke played it a little more coy: "I have a few things going on in my life, and you’ll see that as the season progresses. Hannah caught my eye, from the beginning. I know that. Hannah and I definitely have a connection."
Both Jules and Luke first got connected to the Hamptons share house through mutual friends: Luke and Kyle Cooke knew of one another through a mutual friend and, after running into one another while out in New York City, Kyle extended an invitation to Luke to see what a summer in the Hamptons would be like.
"Me and Kyle had a mutual friend from being out in the city and I had run into Kyle and he asked if I wanted to be part of the house, and I was at a point in my life where I was like, ‘Why not do something different with my summer?’" he explained. "I usually spend the summer in Minnesota at my lake house."
"It was a great experience. I had a lot of self-growth being in a house with a bunch of people that I didn’t know and you’re forced to be in situations you wouldn’t normally associate with, but you have to, so you learn to navigate the waters and figure it out," Luke went on. "There are a lot of good things that come out of it, and the important thing is that I went into it with an open mind and I came out of it with a great group of friends."
For Jules, her connection came through season 3 cast member, Jordan Verroi, who isn't returning to "Summer House" as a full-time cast member, but will appear on several episodes this season.
"I had met Jordan at a photo shoot when I was still living in Chicago, and then I traveled to New York to lock down my new apartment when I was moving here, and he introduced me to Hannah," Jules explained. "We hit it off, and she knew that I didn’t know a lot of people here, so that’s why she invited me to join the house."
"It was a crazy experience. I definitely put a lot on my plate being brand new to the city, not really being situated in my living space, not knowing a lot of people and now I’m sharing a house with eight other people," she laughed. "It was definitely overwhelming, and it was a big learning experience. I’m a sweet midwest girl, and the people of New York are totally different creatures."
Just as they both found some level of romance in the house, Jules and Luke both also appear to have their fair share of drama with an original cast member: Jules with Lindsay Hubbard, who she says "had a feeling that I had my eye on Carl," and Luke with, well, Carl.
Despite bringing some welcome male energy to the group, Luke admitted that he and Carl eventually butt heads, with their tension coming to a head in a dramatic scene that's teased in the trailer for the season.
"Me and Carl had a bit of a falling out, but I think the world of Carl," Luke said. "When you’re in a house with people, there are egos and you’re going to eventually get on each others nerves. That’s just human nature."
"Summer House" premieres on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
