Boston Bruins defenders absorbed assaults while a resuscitated attack unleashed a puck cascade on the Florida Panthers for a Game 5 win Tuesday, extending the Eastern Conference semifinal series.
The Maple Leafs were not one of the top defensive teams in the league during the regular season. In this series, however, Sheldon Keefe's team has excelled at clogging the middle and limiting Boston's opportunities, particularly on the inside. Woll didn't break much of a sweat over the first 30 minutes of Thursday's Game 6, but he saw a lot of rubber over the final 30. Geekie's goal with one second left was a nice lift mentally as it gave the Bruins the confidence that they could crack the former Boston College star.
Game 3 is Wednesday night in Toronto.
