The Calgary Flames may not be in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but their fan base certainly has a rooting interest in the Western Conference Final. The Flames' provincial-rival Edmonton Oilers were able to knock off the Vancouver Canucks in round two to take on the Dallas Stars. Much like the last round, Flames fans will rally with Canucks fans who are also cheering for the Stars.
Nick Paul scored two goals as defending champion Canada beat Slovakia 6-3 to reach the semifinals at the ice hockey world championship on Thursday. Dylan Guenther had a goal and an assist and Jared McCann, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and Brandon Tanev also scored for 28-time champion Canada in the quarterfinal.
The Dallas Stars defenseman had collided with Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon in front of the net. Dallas coach Pete DeBoer and multiple teammates made a variation of the same joke: Did Tanev have any teeth left to lose? Tanev set the facts straight later.
