Zara Tindall, granddaughter of the Queen and cousin to Princes William and Harry, has opened up for the first time about suffering a second miscarriage. The royal, who has two daughters with her husband Mike Tindall, previously revealed she "lost their baby" in December 2016, two years after welcoming their first child, Mia.

In a new interview with Sunday Times, the mother of two said that she "then had another miscarriage really early on" before becoming pregnant with her younger daughter Lena, who was born in June.

"You need to go through a period where you don’t talk about it because it’s too raw but, as with everything, time’s a great healer," Tindall, 37, told the publication.

After her struggles with pregnancy, Zara and Mike happily welcomed baby Lena Elizabeth Tindall on June 18. The baby marks the seventh great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news," the announcement from the palace read.

The couple has not yet publicly revealed a photo of their newborn.
