Youngsville man receives new kidney from wife after two years of complications

YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY)– For two years, Robbie Buller has struggled with kidney failure and kidney disease, ultimately requiring a new kidney to live a healthy life. To his surprise, his perfect match was the woman he chose to build a life with.

In April 2022, Buller said he began to experience nausea, weakness, and fatigue. A few months later, Buller said his wife urged him to get a check-up, that’s when the doctor diagnosed Buller with stage five kidney failure.

“About three months, four months into me complaining and my wife constantly hearing me say that, she said you’re going to the doctor. About two hours after we left, he called us back, he said ‘Y’all need to come right away. He found out that I was in stage five kidney failure.”

Buller was on dialysis for over a year, before he and his wife, Morgan Buller, traveled to New Orleans. Morgan Buller found out she could be his donor, but she decided to keep it a secret and surprise him last month.

“I knew I wanted to do something special,” she said. “My daughter was graduating high school, and I knew all our friends and family were gonna be here. What better way to have all of our friends and family surrounded by him and surprise him that way.””

She said this transplant journey has brought them closer than ever.

“I feel like our love has grown a lot stronger in the last couple years,” Morgan Buller said. “It sure has, it really has.”

Robbie Buller said he is grateful to have his wife in his life.

“It’s just been amazing to have this blessing from god and such a blessing from my wife Morgan,” he said.
