Young child okay after accidental shooting in University area; charges pending: CMPD
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 4-year-old child was hurt Sunday night in an accidental shooting, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD).
Officers were called to Atrium Health University City on North Tryon Street just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 28.

Hospital staff told officers that a 4-year-old child arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand, officials say. The child’s injuries were non-life threatening.
Authorities believe the child was accidentally shot with an unsecured gun at a home on Wheatside Drive. The child’s father then took the 4-year-old to the hospital.
Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
