You'll have some new ways to get to Summerfest this year

Milwaukee County Transit System announced Tuesday its expanding service during the three weekends of Summerfest that runs from June 20-22, June 27-29 and July 4-6 this year.

New this year, MCTS is adding an additional shuttle route to Summerfest from the Hales Corners Park and Ride lot. The CONNECT 1 BRT line will also be extended to The Couture transit concourse, which is a short walk to the festival grounds.

You can take an MCTS shuttle to Summerfest this year

Three shuttles will run approximately every 15 minutes from College Avenue, Brown Deer Park or Hales Corners Park and Ride lots to the festival grounds entrance outside the Summerfest Mid Gate.

Shuttles are cashless and riders will pay upon arrival at Summerfest. You can pay via the Umo app, WisGo card, VISA, Mastercard, Discover card, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

The round-trip fare is $10 for riders ages 12 and up, and $5 for Reduced Fare riders (youth 11 and under and seniors 65 and over, and those with qualifying disabilities).

The first shuttle leaves the lot at 11:30 a.m. and the last bus leaves the Summerfest Mid Gate at 12:30 a.m. You can park at the Park and Ride lots for free on a first come, first-served basis.

New this year, the CONNECT 1 BRT will be extended to the lakefront with a new stop at The Couture on Michigan Avenue and Lincoln Memorial Drive. Riders pay before they board the CONNECT 1 BRT.

Other routes to Summerfest grounds include:

  • GreenLine: Serving destinations including Bayshore Mall, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, downtown, Bay View and the Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport. Drop off location for Summerfest is on Water Street at Chicago Street or St. Paul Avenue.

  • Route 15: Serving destinations including Harambee and Riverwest neighborhoods, Milwaukee School of Engineering, downtown, Bay view, Cudahy and South Milwaukee. Drop off location for Summerfest is in the Third Ward along North Water Street.

  • Route 18: Pickup locations are along Greenfield Avenue and National Avenue to downtown. Drop off location for Summerfest is in the Third Ward along North Water Street.

  • Route 30: Pickup locations are along Sherman Boulevard south of Mill Road, the Washington Park area, from UW-Milwaukee to downtown. Drop off location for Summerfest is at Jackson and Wisconsin.

For the routes listed above, 90-minute fare is $2 for riders ages 12 and up and $1 for youth 11 and under and seniors 65 and older and people with qualifying disabilities. You can pay on the bus via the Umo app, WisGo card or cash.
