NEW YORK (PIX11) — New York City is offering a free English conversation and learning program for people 16 and older.

We Speak NYC is a city-run program with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs. It provides access to online and in-person classes, videos, web, and print materials for practicing English at home.

Classes through We Speak NYC are free and aim to help people trying to learn English practice and build conversation skills.

“The videos and materials tell stories about New Yorkers who have come from all over the world and explain some important services and resources that the city offers,” a statement on the website reads.

There are no eligibility requirements except for the age limit, and anyone interested in learning can sign up and get started here.

For New Yorkers who don’t need to practice their English but are still interested in getting involved, We Speak NYC also accepts volunteers to teach and host classes.
