Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery will not miss time after being hit in the head during BP
There was an extremely scary moment on Saturday afternoon as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox prepared for their day game in the Bronx.
During batting practice, Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery was inadvertently hit on the right side of the head by an errant foul ball struck by Red Sox catcher Sandy Leon. The 24-year-old Montgomery was signing autographs for fans down the right-field line when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Montgomery, who has pitched to a 4.05 ERA in 21 starts on the season, was able to walk back to the Yankee dugout, but did have a towel wrapped around the right side of his head before returning to the clubhouse. Thankfully, the Yankees announced that Montgomery would be in uniform for Saturday’s matinee against the Red Sox and still make his scheduled start on Sunday.

On the heels of recently placing starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka on the 10-day disabled list with an inflamed right shoulder and in the midst of fighting for a playoff berth, the Yankees have to be relieved that Montgomery will not miss any time.
