XNA on record-setting pace for enplanements in 2024

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Northwest Arkansas National Airport is having a record-setting year and is preparing for a busy Memorial Day weekend.

XNA Public Affairs Manager Olivia Tyler said every month this year, the airport has broken its record for enplanements, which is the word for passengers who board an aircraft.

The airport has had more than 317,000 total enplanements already this year, with each month having more than the last.

XNA enplanement totals exceed 1 million over 12-month span

Last year, the airport nearly set its record for enplanements with more than 991,000 people boarding.

“I think people are just starting to feel the itch to get out and travel it’s a little bit warmer, there’s a little bit more of a buzz and so people are certainly interested at the start of summer to go out and go to the beach or go to the mountains if you want the cold,” Tyler said about the incoming Memorial Day traffic.

Tyler recommends you get to the airport at least two hours before your departure if you’re traveling this weekend.
