WPS, in response to the outages, put forth the following statement on its Facebook Page:

WPS officials also said that while crews are working on restoring power, they are being faced with substantial damage. They add that, on top of the snowy roads and slick conditions, there have been more than 800 reports of problems with downed power lines, utility poles, and trees falling into electric equipment.

Officials say all available crews are working around the clock to make repairs and restore service to all of the affected customers as safely and quickly as possible.

We Energies Outage Map, as of 10:45 a.m., is reporting 574 outages and 38,348 customers without service. We Energies put out the following statement on their Facebook page:

“Our crews are working to repair power outages caused by heavy snow and damaging winds in Fox Valley and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.”
