You Won't Believe What These South Carolina Parents Named Their Eclipse Day Newborn
Sure, there are Christmas Eve babies named Eve. Maybe you've even heard of the triplets born to University of Tennessee superfan getting Vols-inspired names. But today's news out of Greenville, South Carolina takes the cake for over-the-moon baby names.
In case you missed it, today, much of the country witnessed a Total Solar Eclipse with the path of totality stretching from Oregon to South Carolina. For some, that meant day-long tailgate parties. For others, space-themed weddings. For Freedom Eubanks of Spartanburg, South Carolina, it meant an unexpected Eclipse Day-childbirth.

Due for delivery on September 3rd, Freedom and husband Michael decided to do a quick name change when it became clear their daughter was arriving today. Her name, is, yes, legally, Eclipse (her parents plan to call her Clipsey for short).
With the full name of Eclipse Alizabeth Eubanks, the baby girl arrived at 8:04 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. Originally going to be named Violet, her mom is convinced that her name was simply meant to be. "I kind of felt like it was meant to happen, to have her on this day," Eubanks said of giving birth on Eclipse Day in an ABC News story.
Aligning the stars in this newborn's world even more, Greenville was part of the 70-mile-wide stretch on the "path of totality" for the solar eclipse. Now, here's to hoping this lucky baby becomes the first NASA astronaut with a space-inspired name.
