You Won't Be Able To Stop Watching Ina Garten Decorate Her Iconic Flag Cake
If anything's as American as apple pie, it's Ina Garten's flag cake. She started selling it from her Hamptons store every Fourth of July, and when she shuttered that, she eventually revealed the recipe in Barefoot Contessa Family Style in 2002. Now, it's garnered a cult-like following, similar to Garten's other most classic recipes, like roast chicken and fresh-from-the-garden salads. So much so, that Taylor Swift, Garten's ultimate fangirl, posted about it two years in a row.

But for as many times as we've seen the patriotic dessert posted (and reposted, and liked, and shared), we're still mesmerized by watching Garten do her thing. She must know it, because she released a timelapse video of her decorating the flag cake this afternoon on Instagram, writing: "It's a 4th of July tradition! I've made so many flag cakes over the years, and I've gotten really fast at decorating them!!"

It looks like Garten's trick to speeding things up is marking the blueberry (a.k.a star) section by marking faint lines in the frosting with a skewer, then filling that rectangle in. She also double fists it when it comes to laying raspberries down, lining them up two by two. If you think yours looks just as good as hers, Garten wants to see it. She finished the caption by asking fans to hashtag their creations using #BCflagcake.
But honestly, can anyone really upstage the Queen of the Hamptons?
