Woman pleads not guilty in LeClaire vehicular homicide

A 36-year-old LeClaire woman charged with the vehicular homicide of a Bettendorf woman has pleaded not guilty, court records show.

According to court documents filed Wednesday in Scott County Court, Molly Vance pleaded not guilty to charges of vehicular homicide and operating while under the influence.

Police say Vance had a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit when she killed another woman with her car in LeClaire in February. Police allege she hit Leslie Preisser, 44, of Bettendorf, with an SUV at Riverview Roadhouse in LeClaire.

Under Iowa law, according to the Iowa DOT, it is unlawful to drive with an alcohol concentration of .08 or more.

Officers at the scene earlier testified Vance was unable to maintain her balance that night after Preisser was found dead – pinned between the railing and the bar. Security video shows a Cadillac Escalade strike a woman victim, they said.
